I've noted repeatedly the issue for apt/condo dwellers who cannot charge on their own nickel. I'd have two options, charging downstairs at leisure but paying something over 40 cents per kWhr, or driving to Kroger or Atlantic Center and charging over time perhaps somewhat cheaper, maybe. (The latter has a large bank of Tesla chargers.)
Neither is appealing to me. Presume I could buy an EV basically like our Tucson with 300 mile range, fine, but paying 40 cents per kWhr negates any advantage, and then some. Having to drive to "Kroger", and wait an hour, is a nonstarter as well. I know more stations are coming, but they all will cost somewhere between $0.25 and $0.50, and require me to go somewhere and wait. The four stations at our Kroger are often occupied, so I'd wait for one to open, I see that fairly often.
Even if the EV cost LESS, I wouldn't go for it, in my situation. This is all fine if you own your own home, but for the rest of us ... it's unappealing.
