If Z's/M's are the target market, well, they won't know how to install a radio or speakers. They'll need a boomer or an X to do it for them.

That may be a harsh over-generalization.  My stepsons are Zoomers and the oldest seems to have come into the world knowing how to do stuff (although he's curious and has two and a half decades of tinkering with stuff under his belt now).  The youngest is not naturally inclined that way, but if it's on YouTube or somewhere on the internet, he figures stuff out and gets it done.

Maybe they are the exception and not the rule.

There are exceptions. My sons know how to do shit because I taught them.

They're already accustomed to listening to low-quality streaming sources over low-fidelity bluetooth speakers and earbuds.  I don't see why they wouldn't just tie-wrap a boom2 wireless speaker to the dash and link to their phones.  The phone can also serve as remote GPS and pretty much anything else they'd want in the car.

I don't really see the presence or absence of a car stereo as a major purchasing driver for most of them.

Didn't see any dimensions listed on it in the article.

A truck bed that's big enough for a sheet of plywood, that's something, but I wonder if it's enough.  I got used to a long-bed when I had a truck, and hauling long pieces of lumber was easier, and safer, I think.  But it still might be enough for the occasional stuff that pops up that makes me wish I still had a truck.

I think my son is GenZ (born 2007).

He wanted a new stereo head unit for his 2003 Highlander because, as you can imagine, the stock head unit didn't have Bluetooth lol...

Of course that meant that his grandparents on his mom's side bought it for him as a gift, knowing that *I* could actually help him install it.

But I used it as a teaching opportunity. I didn't do it for him. I supervised, as LIGHTLY as possible, so that he would actually have to learn from the process. And also so that HE would have the sense of accomplishment when it was complete knowing that I didn't just do it for him while he watched.

Actually, that's one of the options... Well, a little better than a tie-wrap... But it's substantially what you just described lol...

I saw a pic somewhere and the bed isn't actually big enough for a full 4x8 sheet of plywood.  It's wide enough, but with the tailgate down, there's still a couple of feet of plywood that extend beyond the lowered tailgate.  They showed the vehicle with a few sheets of plywood stacked, and held in place with ratchet tie-downs.

But my F150 only has a 5.5' bed.  So when I haul plywood I either lean it down into the bed and let the back sit on top of the tailgate, or I could drop the tailgate and ratchet down a load, same way they demonstrate on this thing.

Regardless it's definitely not intended to replace a contractor's work truck.  It's really just for relatively small DIY projects or hauling some plants and mulch from the box store.

I really don't ever need a super-sized work truck.  Occasionally I've had some lumber delivered that I wished I had my old truck for, but mostly it's the small DIY projects you describe that make me wish I had a truck.

I'd love another big, new, beautiful Dodge or GM (or hell, a Ford), but given the cost of those, it's hard to justify.  I'm gonna keep my eye on this.
