I'm fascinated by the "team-X is unbeatable" trope in college football. Particularly for this Buckeye team. Have they played well in their last two games? Yes. Did they scrape by Nebraska at home, and lose to a pretty good, but not especially good Michigan team also at home? Also yes.
All of these teams within a few rankings of each other at the end of the season are pretty close to even in talent. Oregon had a spectacularly bad half and couldn't recover. That happens in this game. The Buckeyes have played well twice in a row. There's no particular reason to believe there will be a third.
I'm not saying OSU shouldn't be favored, but no, Texas is not doomed. Sorry UTee. :-)

Well then what do they do when the Cowboys host the Texans?

Lose, mostly.  When they host anybody, really, not just the Texans.

Y'all don't listen to utee talking about no home-field advantage in Jerry-world.  Bastard's been telling me for 14 years how LSU had major home-field advantage vs. Oregon to start the '11 season.  Despite Jerry-world being 7 hrs and 450 miles from Baton Rouge.

Now the burnt orange bastard wants to talk like Texas has no home field advantage, being < 3 hrs and < 200 miles from Jerry-world.

Bevo is banned from Tiger Stadium for the sheer hypocrisy.

agree 100%.

Ohio State can be had. They've already proven that, twice. Are they a hell of a team? Of course.  But this nonsense about "mOsT taLeNteD tEam EvAR OmErG tWeNtY mIlLun DuHleR rOsTeR" has got to stop. They might be the best team if they finish the job during a weak year where there really is no great team that stands clear cut above the rest- and that's that.

People need to look at those early 2000s Miami teams when they talk most talented rosters of all-time. Sean Taylor was a backup because Ed Reed started in front of him. Ed Reed is only the greatest safety in this history of the fucking game and Sean Taylor might've been that if not for his tragic murder. Frank Gore was the 3rd string RB because Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee were ahead of him. Andre Johnson is a HOF WR and was Jeremiah Smith before Jeremiah Smith. Vince Wilfork who is an NFL HOF'er was the starting NT. I am sure I am missing many more 1st round picks and legends. But those Miami teams were the most talented teams ever assembled and we'll probably never see anything the likes of that again.

who's actually saying that? I think people are saying they are the most talented team this year, but I don't see anyone or hear anyone claiming they're the most talented team ever?? Most people are stating that there isn't a clear cut powerhouse this year, but OSU may be at the top of the talent group this year.. and that may be true, but I also think this is a year where the top isn't elite like some other year's when we clearly see 2-3 elite teams.. I would argue 2023 Michigan is more talented than any 2024 team and I don't think that's biased and NFL rosters would support that as well. I would also argue there have been some Buckeye teams in the last 10 years that are more talented than this Buckeye team as well.

Urbz and Tress were saying that shit before the season. That fat guy on On3 who is a Bucknutjob fan and does a podcast with Andy Staples also saying shit like that ever since Ohio State decided to show up and play ball in the playoff and not choke at home to a 20 point dawg that doesn't have a QB and can't complete a forward pass. Believe he lumped them in the same class as 2019 LSU which is just...LOLZ considering that team ran a murderers row gauntlet to 15-0 and Joe Burrow was the QB of that team and Justin Jefferson and JaMarr Chase were the WR's- you know only one of the best 3 or 4 QB's in the entire NFL right now and probably the two best WR's in the entire NFL right now...

I think 2023 Michigan might just wind up being the last great college team we so go undefeated now that the NIL/portal era is here in full effect and has gone to straight up insanity levels- even more nutty than anyone could've imagined from just a few years ago when it became reality. It will be hard as shit for anybody to keep players from just hitting the portal and transferring for more money or because they didn't get x amount of carries or passes thrown their way or as many defensive pass rush snaps they wanted going forward. Stacking talent and depth is harder than ever today- and dog eat dog competition in practice and camp where you have backups that could start at most other places is what makes teams elite. Flat out just going to see less and less of that from now on.

I'm not...but I do hope you are correct because it's flat out ruining the sport.

So the first two to promote the program they love and no reasonable people since.  If all we search for are levels of absurdity, that's what we'll find, but that doesn't mean a remotely measurable quantity of sane humans believe it.
