Do they still get the $140 Million?
Yes.  The contracts between Texas and ESPN, are independent of the contracts between Texas and the B12, or the Texas and the SEC.

I'd expect them to continue to pay out at the rate they currently are, so it won't be $140M all at once, but rather $15M-$20M over the next 8 years.

I'm a streamer, and Sling is the only one I know of who carries LHN, and Sling is a no-go for many reasons.  I don't know if this varies by area, but Spectrum does not have LHN on the same tier with ESPNs/SECN, that costs extra, and the last time I had DirecTV it was the same thing....I had all the ESPNs and SECN, but LHN would've cost extra.

It's like....how bad do they not want me to watch Texas?
Spectrum in Austin has it on the basic sports tier.

I've enjoyed getting to see so much live baseball and volleyball over the past ten years.  Once joining the SEC and having to compete with 15 other schools' live sports, I anticipate seeing a lot less of it being broadcast.  I think they put some overflow stuff on ESPN+, but I don't know anything about that and I assume it costs extra?

Little good it's done us, at least in football.  Just more money to waste on bad coaching hires.

I get confused on the various terms ESPN has rolled out over the last 15 years, but if we're talking about the same thing, it doesn't cost extra, it's just a bit of a hassle.  Events which don't air on traditional ESPN channels can be accessed with the ESPN app using your provider credentials.  We primarily use a Firestick with our living room tv and watching games this way is not bad, but it's not quite as functional or quick to find as when it airs on a regular channel.

Quality is every bit as good as HD cable/satellite though.  Just last year I got to watch in beautiful HD our sub-par pitching staff get rocked game after game, which is much better than the old days when I watched our sub-par pitching staffs get rocked in grainy, laggy 720i.

ESPN3 is their free streaming, ESPN+ is not.  We have the Disney bundle, which is ESPN+, Disney+ and Hulu basic, for like $12 a month.  I think it's essentially buy two get one free

So if you pay for ESPN+ can you use that alone to watch regular games, or do you still have to have a cable provider?

Paying for ESPN+ doesn't get you ESPN, ESPN2, and the others. You need a cable/streaming provider for those.

I use Hulu Live TV, which has all of those and actually automatically bundles in ESPN+ and Disney+ as well. 74.99/mo.

I used Hulu a few years ago for streaming service.  Probably before the Disney bundle.  Wasn't bad, but not as good as YTTV either, both in channel selection and UI.  Combine that with the fact I'm probably never going to be interested in Disney+, and Hulu doesn't have much attraction for me.  Would probably be a different story if ESPN+ actually got you ESPN games.  There's hardly ever been anything I wanted to watch that I couldn't get with ESPN3.

so to utee's point....sounds like yes, you'd pay extra for ESPN+, but I can't say that I've ever missed it, not having it.  I've missed some baseball games here and there, but that doesn't affect me much because 1) I often cut off tv outside of football season anyway, 2) I love listening to LSU baseball games on the radio, for whatever reason.  Reminds me of my childhood.

Well yeah.  Like I said originally, I've really enjoyed having the LHN specifically because of its live broadcasts of all of those volleyball and baseball games.  I don't cut off the TV and I do watch those regularly.

And I expect that availability of live Longhorn sports content to diminish once in the SEC, because the SECN will have a total of 16 teams competing for those live slots, where the LHN only had one.

And if they slide the overflow to ESPN+ then I guess that's an option, but it costs extra so it's something less than what I currently have.

But of course, nobody asked me or any other fan what they actually wanted.  We simply don't matter, to The Powers That Be.

You need a cable/streaming provider to watch games that are available over the air.  However, if you do, you can link them.  So our outdoor TV is a smart TV, and we can watch any ABC/ESPN game there on ESPN+ because we have it linked to our cable.

But just a TON of Olympic sports and mid-major basketball and football are ESPN+ only.  There are 22 conference tournament games on today.  20 of them are on ESPN+.  I also get the MSU only BTN+ subscription (which is like $30 a year) so I can watch MSU baseball and soccer

Psh, you are acting like the Big Ten didn't finally give us the Rutgers content we had been begging for for years.  And now we get 11 PM games in the future.  It's all fan service

and local channels and Food Network

$64.95/month

saving me about $25/month
