Went with Iowa.

Curious to know how many schools in the conference play a 4-3 versus a 3-4.

Or how many teams do some version of a nickel coverage, especially on passing downs Like a 4-2-5 or 3-3-5 coverage.

The Buckeye base defense will be 4-2-5 this year.  They may adjust to 4-3 against certain offenses.  I see the Badgers are on the schedule.

All. Your 4-2-5 and 2-4-5s are very common. 3-3-5 is less common, though it depends how one classifies some of the more mobile hybrid ends.

Teams actually going 4-3 or 3-4, that's one to watch for. It's weird to think that like 15 years ago, teams like UW and Iowa would still stick in their zone looks with 4-3 personnel against spread. (I think Iowa has shifted, but they were the last holdout I can think of)

Yes Iowa finally switched to the 4-2-5 in 2018, at least when playing passing teams.  Amani Hooker played the 5th DB position that Iowa likes to call the "cash" position.  Hooker ended up winning Big Ten DB of the year in 2018.

It's not just a coincidence that after some fine-tuning the Iowa defense went almost 3 straight years from late 2018 to mid-2021 without giving up more than 24 points.

Lol, no, the Iowa coaches insist its all very different from the simple nickel coverage that virtually every team likes to play on passing downs.  The "cash" postion is not just another nickelback but is more of a hybrid superman that can do everything.  It takes a guy with very unique talent to play it.  Or at least that's what I have heard.
