Absolutely. They have to call that, DB didn’t turn and look for the ball.
I know it’s frustrating from OSU standpoint, since they had the drive stopped
Pass interference is intentional contact to prevent a completion.  This call was made because he didn't turn around and look at the ball, even though that isn't part of pass interference in college football.  It is was brutal call, because the ball has no chance of ever being completed, there was no intentional contact, and because the QB was bailed out for throwing a bad pass into tight coverage.

What?  He was pretty clearly down prior to getting the first down.  I don't see how you could say any differently.
Watch it again

Well, the refs give it back to Minny on a truly terrible PI call
Nonsense.  That was absolutely the definition of PI.  And after the horrible spot on that 4th down?

That exact language ("be sure to turn around") may not be written into the book, but it's been abundantly clear for at least 5 years, that this is a firm convention now. Watch Michigan DBs. If they turn their heads, they can get away with almost anything. That's the modern college game. Rejecting it does a coach or fan zero good.

Meanwhile, Florida's entire team is honest-to-god throwing the game vs Vandy.  On purpose.  I wish I was joking.

He's 6'9 or 6'10. Seriously. I think our conceptions of good OL weight are not relevant to a guy that tall.
If he were 5 years older, maybe.  To be there at 18 is the concern

I know.  But "convention" and the rule are two different things.  That's why we get awful calls, when we look at convention instead of following the rules.

Man, without that bad call, Minnesota would be running away with this.

That's fair. But be patient. Changes in convention often precede changes of law.

I'm pretty patient.  It's always been a pet peeve when refs throw PI flags when a QB throw a hopeless pass into coverage.  It happens fairly frequently and I don't expect it to change.
