I am pleasantly surprised. If you would have told me that the buckeyes would go into that environment and hold Penn State to two field goals I would not have believed you. But mostly the offensive line stepped up big time today.

Well, yeah.  I'm pretty sure I described them as "breathtakingly awful." :)

My point is that the times when they've "looked good" it's been against other mediocre-to-bad competition.

And their swings to the "low" side, are really, really bad.

Ahhh. I see where we’re talking past each other.

You were talking about today, and I was talking about the whole season. Understandable crossing of wires.

I feel like Ole Miss is the same way, but like a step or two higher, at least on offense. Their low is basically “all that talent and scheme and why is this bad?”

Precisely!  You stated it perfectly.

I don’t think a school like Purdue fires a coach after two years, but Walters is going to at least make someone think about it.

Like 1-11 is right there, with the possibility of an IU dog walking.

Switched over to CBS for Oregon at Michigan.

It is probably in my team's best interests for the Wolverines to win but I just can't bring myself to root for the evil heathens. Go Ducks!

Outside of the obvious, this was a great game - defense, enough close reviews, good calls today by Kelly

If all you wanted is a Buckeyes win any way you can get it, then yes, thumbs up.

But overall this was another anti-climatic OSU-PSU game. Penn State has as mich talent as the Buckeyes, yet overthink themselves into low-risk, low-reward gameplay that gets finished off by an inability to overcome various mental blocks that always reveal themselves Vs Ohio State and Michigan. It’s a James Franklin trademark.

It didn’t help that Penn State was hosed by an overturned fumble call, but even had that gone their way Penn State would’ve still found a way to overthink it. Case in point - three predictable and dry runs up the middle on 1st and Goal late.

If you were cheering for PSU ( and you were) that’s how you see it.

Ohio State only allowed 2 field goals and gave a 14 point swing to Penn State with two bonehead plays that they made. Unforced errors.
Penn State
did not get hosed on what was a very obvious incompletion.  It’s funny, I remember in the Festia Bowl against Clemson, a guy catching the ball and taking four steps, then being stripped and having the fumble return for a touchdown and having that one overturned.  Cost OSU a trip to the NC.

from 11 Warriors
Buckeye71 2 minutes ago

One note I had (and relates to both teams), there were zero holding calls which is pretty unfathomable in an entire football game.

This is such an interesting thing osu fans have been doing lately. A call that goes in their favor, which probably shouldn’t have and they reference a similar call years ago that went against them to justify the current blown call in their favor. When in reality, only thing that matters is getting the call right, not what happened forever ago.

Hazell got 4, but he inherited a much worse position.  Granted he was just recruiting against OSU/UM etc helmet status, not also their wallets

I don't disagree but if I ever saw a Buckeye rooting in favor of Michigan I'd proclaim that person to be a false fan.

I have a work friend who graduated from Auburn and he actually roots for Alabama in OOC games, I guess for some kind of "SECSECSEC" reasons?  Anyway, I laugh at him when he attempts to tell me SEC rivalries are hard-core.  Nope.  If you EVER pull for your rival, that's just sad.
