Last week in parenthesis

  • PENN STATE (2) - sleptwalked, but were never in danger
  • IOWA (1) - sleptwalked, but were in danger for a minute
  • OHIO STATE (3) - needed that
  • MICHIGAN (5) - lack of faith in McNamera still concerning
  • MICHIGAN STATE (6) - win your clunkers
  • MARYLAND (7) - going to get a test on Friday night
  • RUTGERS (9) - Fightin' Schianos never stopped fighting
  • WISCONSIN (4) - at this point the Mertz track record against good teams seems pretty locked in
  • INDIANA (10) - won a dangerous road game in a no-win situation
  • PURDUE (11) - a conference win is a conference win, and the Oregon State win looks better now
  • NEBRASKA (12) - "blackshirts are slowly rounding into a sneaky good side" - me last week in these rankings
  • MINNESOTA (8) - yuck
  • NORTHWESTERN (13) - Ohio is a nice get right game
  • ILLINOIS (14) - defense showed up for the second straight week, offense is AWOL

Good grief.  Please stick Indiana at 9
Got it, thank you.

Results posted, votes through @ELA , 15 voters.

Vote distributions are getting more normal.

The BIG movement was Minnesota's ranking cratering.  Their average ranking dropped 3.8 and they dropped five spots passed by UMD, RU, IU, PU, and UNL.  Other than that, tOSU was up a spot and a half breaking out of their 3/4 tie with Michigan and passing Iowa for 2nd while MSU passed UW and NU broke out of their 13/14 tie with IL.

At least half of us agree:
  • That Northwestern is #13, 10 of 15
  • That Illinois is #14, 10 of 15
  • That PSU is #1, 8 of 15

More than one-third of us agree on the above plus:
  • That MSU is #5, 7 of 15
  • That UMD is #6, 7 of 15
  • That PU is #11, 7 of 15
  • That RU is #8, 6 of 15
  • That IU is #9, 6 of 15

i cannot tell you how that Minnesota debacle happened
but i would bet it had something with these

  • homecoming
  • weak competition
  • late night
  • girls weaken legs(and minds apparently)
  • coaches thinking the team was in bed sleeping or preparing for the Saturday game
