I'm badly allergic to dogs (and other things) to the point where if they simply touch me, I break out in a rash. My "preference" is to not have this happen, because it sucks.

Is it selfish to not expect to find a dog walking in a f'ing store?

Or, is it selfish to bring your damn dog into a store, knowing there may be other people inside who cannot tolerate your damn dog?
The allergy is a fair accommodation to ask about. But it is asking to be accommodated, like peanuts or anything else.
Is it selfish to not want a dog in a store? It depends the kind of store and situation. This isn’t a place where a dog is gonna get dog stuff on the products for the most part (not an open air butcher shop). And as you said, it was part store, part wine tasting. We could argue a wine tasting isn’t a place for a dog, but society generally seems fine with dogs in at least some open-space drinking situations.
To answer your last question, I’d say it’s selfish to imagine someone else should live their life and act in public spaces according to your preferences and tolerances. If the store has a pet policy or particular preference, absolutely, but it sounds like this was your issue, not theirs. If it’s a health thing, you can nicely ask, and hopefully with an explanation, they won’t be crappy about it. If they’re crappy, that’s PoA.

A dog can react to any quick movement or kids running/screaming next thing you know it latches on to some one - ya leave the mutts at home.Unless it's saturday afternoon and Badge is at a wine tasting well then empty the shelter maybe some of those ripple slurpers will want to adopt a rescue.Serves him right for not watching College Football
A dog COULD bite someone and thus should be kept in the house? I thought we were anti-PoA around here.

I've had a few people give me shit when I've asked them to take their dogs outside and tie them up. One woman was particularly bitchy, so I got close and let out a major ripper. Stunk too. She left.

I'm a dog lover.  Just don't want one living in my house.  Outside in the yard is fine.

My daughter has a dog, yes, daughter and dog live in my house.

It bothers me a bit, not enough to kick the daughter out.

the dog is my buddy, but when he leaves I will be fine w/o him.

I don't mind other people's dogs.  They usually don't bite or otherwise bother me.

I don't like cats a tall

Cats will kill me, and frankly I find them to be filthy.   I can't get over where people let their cats walk, climb, etc. inside their homes.   I have been inside my brother's place one time in 16 years, despite scores of get togethers elsewhere.  Its the damn cats.

I think airlines have also started to wake up to the self inflicted trouble that pro-dog people have been bringing to the skies.

I like dogs. I'm a dog person, but I don't have time for one. I have cat. Not a cat person. But I like our cat anyway.

I think dogs in stores, eating, and drinking establishments is a little weird unless they are service dogs. Real service dogs, not "I really like my dog" service dogs.

But know your dog. Any possibility that dog will bite someone? Stays in the house. A friend's dog bit me last week, twice. Stupid little toy poodle, or some such thing. It broke skin and it hurt, but it wasn't dangerous, just really annoying. Literally an ankle biter.

Man, looking at 1997, though (I know I'm two days late). I was in South Korea and very few Badger games were on TV. Season opener against Syracuse was, though. They whupped the Badgers. Then got smacked around by the Georgia Bulldogs in January at the Outback Bowl. A Georgian stationed with me let me know how much Wisconsin sucked every chance he got. He hadn't even gone to Georgia--went to North Georgia College. That guy--for more reasons than just football--got me to dislike Georgia football for a long time.

Hadn't thought about that in a while. Shouldn't dwell on negative things like that.

Nowadays I kinda like the Georgia Dawgs, between Cincy and some fellas I worked with for a few years. I've been to Athens several times, but never made it over a football weekend. Still in the cards, I hope.
