you can't coach scared or try to make players play like they are bubble wrapped. have to play to win the game and put belt to ass of the other team every week: see Cignetti, Curt. have to let your players play and the chips fall where they may.

Bryce Underwood is not going to be anywhere near the type of player he can become if you don't involve his legs into the equation. He is a FREAK athlete for his size and those legs are a dangerous weapon.

It's one thing to want to keep your star safe bc you don't have anyone behind him. But you're trying to win championships. If wrapping your QB in bubble wrap is losing you games, then what's the point of worrying about his health? His health is irrelevant if you don't make the CFP.

yeah sure, except for the FACTS that they are not the same age nor have the same experience level.

CJ Carr is 20 years old and is a RS Freshman, whereas Bryce Underwood is a true freshman who just turned 18 years old two months ago, he technically could be class of 2026.

You are discounting an entire year of experience sitting in a college system learning an offense, an entire year and off-season of getting reps in practice, and developing chemistry with WR's and TE's on the team and sharpening your game before you get thrust into live action and have bullets flying. CJ Carr has had this luxury that Underwood has not.

You're exactly right on the age difference and red shirt vs true freshman, but ask Arch Manning how being in the system completely elevated his game. The most common excuse I see for QB's underperforming is "learning the system" or that they need to get experience. While that can be true, there's also the reality that some guys understand the game better than others, which can offset or conquer a talent gap. Unless you want to try and convince me that Tom Brady was the most athletic qb to venture through Ann Arbor.  Athletic ceiling isn't everything, especially at this position. 

I would just say that he is a true freshman. OSU has had a couple of these uber recruits at QB, and it is unfair to expect him to be a Heisman candidate in his first year. Also, he was an uber recruit due to his physical gifts, so his actual QB play is still a work in progress.

Underwood was also insanely productive at the HS level as a player setting all kinds of state passing records and won National Freshman and Sophomore of the year awards, went to 4 state title games I believe and went to all the 7on7 tournaments and camps and performed at the top at every one. he checked every box as a recruit. HS production, size, physical gifts, and excelled at camp/7on7 tournament settings.

  Perhaps but he was a man amongst mostly boys then, he's coming up in weight class now.Braxton Miller was the same thing coming out of H.S. smaller but quicker and a cannon for an arm,that the WRs mostly ran under. He made 2nd team All-American as Freshman on raw talent mostly but it's a huge adjustment. When he ripped his knee up his JR season it affected both his throwing/running capabilities. In NFL Lite Football they don't give a rodents rear end what your resume says they're trying make their own way
