Classic CWS forecast for the weekend .

Low 100s.

I dont think I've ever been hotter at a sporting event than the CWS.

Never been.

As much as our fans love the place, there must be something pleasant about it.

The flavor of victory and Jell-O shots?

Coastal winning would probably be more fun, but LSU probably takes it.

Either way, a couple of interesting and good seasons set to come to a close.

Rare case, where I'm rooting for the high major.  Not particularly a fan of crowding the plate and leaning into pitches

#6 vs #13 for the natty.  Get used to it in football, too.

Blazing heat notwithstanding,  attending the  CWS for multiple days is a ton of fun.

If numbers 1-5 and 7-12 flame out in a 16-team tournament then they deserve to lose.

Want the championship? Don't lose to scrub teams.

My baseball team was the #2 national seed.  They lost to a team seeded between 17 and 32.  They couldn't play better, they couldn't be better, so they weren't better.

You must know this is nonsense, especially in baseball.

Seems like it's nonsense more in football than in baseball.  Baseball tourney features multiple games with double elimination format, whereas football is a one-off and so would be more prone to fluky outcomes, I'd think.

Speaking of, apparently Coastal Carolina's first pitcher tonight is named Flukey.

Baseball is the sport with the least variance between best and worst in a 1-game situation.  A postseason tournament is a series of 1-game situations.

The very best college football teams win 90-100% of their games in a season.
NFL - 80-85%
NBA - 75%
MLB - 60-65%
college baseball - 75%, but with 10-15 games to start the year vs cannon fodder + midweek games, that is inflated

There is a lot of luck in the outcome of baseball games, built into the game itself.  So these elimination games in college baseball reveal VERY little in terms of who is best.
Like MLB's postseason, basically it's a dice roll, with each team getting a face of the die.  You can't will yourself to victory in a 1-game sample size very well (or even in a short series).

That's why MLB has a different WS champion every year.
