Honored that somehow MSU is included as a reason the schedule is difficult

No way that is accurate. That hasn’t been confirmed by anyone and The Wolverine is about as credible as the national enquirer these days…

Can’t stand the guy but Sam Webb over at 247 is literally the only guy with any connections to the Michigan program. Jeem and his coaches and that AD department and their circle talk to no one else but him…it’s weird.

Well, Texas, Arkansas State, Fresno State, Michigan State, and Ohio State will be on it for sure.  Of the remaining seven conference games I would bet at least two of the new Big Ten members will be on it, one a road game.

So looks like they went with 5 year rotations.

Everybody plays everybody at least 2 times in 5 years.

The most you can play a unprotected rival is 3 times in 5 years.

Oregon and Wash are protected rivals that will play every year.

But Wash or Ore are not protected rivals with USC or UCLA.

So since Iowa has 3 protected rivals, They will only play 2 other teams (NW and MSU) 3 times in 5 years

But since PSU has no rivals,  it will play 11 different teams 3 times in 5 years.

they should do away with more than 1 protected rivals.

Michigan should play Ohio State every single year. That's it. They do not need to play Michigan State every year. Pick one main protected rival for every school and get on with it.

Well, that's the problem.  Should PSU and MSU just have none then?

I understand a rare case where having more than one protected rival makes sense. UM/OSU and UM/MSU is one of those rare cases.

But I don't understand how Iowa has 3 protected rivals. Especially since one of them is Nebraska who has been in the conference all of a decade. I get why Purdue/Indiana and Illinois/Northwestern are protected rivalries, but I have no understanding why Purdue/Illinois should be.

Seems like some of them are a little unnecessary.

If I'm not mistaken, PSU is the only school which actually has none.
