Bama gets A&M at home, which helps, and they have a revenge factor and coaching apparent animosity.  The play @ Arkansas and Tennessee and LSU and Ole Miss, so their conference road slate is not a walk in the park.  The Vols start to look dangerous now, I think, probably not enough depth to play every week.

They can lose one because it's unlikely whoever beats them only loses one or zero.  UGA has an easier path to Atlanta.  I am fairly sure Bama would be favored over UGA.

Brock Bowers: FULL HIGHLIGHTS from 2021 season | CBS Sports HQ - YouTube

I think the best FR TE I've ever seen.  Out of Napa.

What are some other notable FR TEs?

Not easy to find productive freshman TEs as most don't do much until their sophomore or even junior years.  Here's 2 reasonable contenders, but I'm sure there are more that could be found:

Heath Miller 2002 33/327/9
Chase Coffman 2005 - 47/503/4

Orson Charles at UGA is probably the best other one they had, and Darnell Washington had a decent freshman season in the COVID year.

But there aren't many to consider.

Yeah, he may be the best (Bowers), but not a lot of competition there, lol.  So he gets credit for being unique, but maybe he's like Usain Bolt vs a bunch of midgets.

It's the time of year for silly articles, I just glanced over one about how UGA is being "overlooked" in the preseason.

I thought that pretty silly but it probably got clicks.

2022 SEC Media Days: How the preseason order of finish should look (247sports.com)

Predictable really, a lot of mush in the middle though.

Kirby Smart: 10-year, $112.5M deal
Lincoln Riley: 10-year, $110M deal
Brian Kelly: 10-year, $100M deal
Mel Tucker: 10-year, $95M deal
Jimbo Fisher: 10-year, $94.95M deal

In ten years, those numbers might look a bit more prosaic.

The Jeremy Pruitt era is over in Knoxville with the former head coach fired after going 16-19 over 3 seasons at Tennessee. Unfortunately for the Volunteers, his time with the program was mired with a number of violations.

According to a Friday afternoon report from Adam Sparks with the Knoxville News Sentinel, Tennessee was flagged for 18 Level I violations stemming from Pruitt’s time as head coach. The violations were revealed in a 51-page report detailing $60,000 worth of cash/gifts given to football recruits and players by Pruitt, his wife, numerous coaches, staff and boosters.

To Tennessee’s credit, the Vols made multiple changes in the athletics department and football staff in the wake of the Pruitt era.

In the notice of allegations, the NCAA credited Tennessee for self-reporting violations and its “exemplary cooperation” in the investigation. It also did not find the university lacked institutional control, a significant decision that likely removes the program from program-crippling levels of punishment.

The NCAA contends Pruitt and his staff gave players cash and gifts throughout his tenure with the Vols from 2018-21. And it says that his wife, Casey Pruitt, paid more than $15,000 in rent and car payments for a Tennessee player and his mother over 2½ years.

Amazing. And much of it would be legal now if done correctly.

I hope that even when it was legal, he'd still use McDonalds bags.
