Ok, so it's the preseason, and camps are in session. Meanwhile, the predictions and rankings are piling up. Here are some predictions to get things started, from Jerry Palm:





OK, so let's start with the playoff. 

Hard to argue against OSU, Bama and UGA being in that group. 

Oklahoma though? New head coach, some lost players, and a pretty tough schedule make this pick a little hard for me to swallow. I'm tempted to predict Baylor repeating as XII champs.

OK, the NY6 bowls.

Locks: Michigan is not going to the Rose Bowl, and USC is not going to the Cotton.

Near locks: Cincy will not be the highest G5 team this year.

My predictions would be:

Wisconsin vs. Utah in the Rose
G5 TBD vs. aTm in the Cotton
oSu vs. Tenn in the Sugar

I like the Clemson/ND pick for the Peach.

Wisconsin will be better this year.  Assuming Wisconsin wins the West and Ohio State the East, I don't think two losses (to the Buckeyes) would get them into the Rose.

I'd be surprised if USC makes it to the Cotton.

so, beat em in the reg season and lose in the Champ game?

Um,doubt it early season loss perhaps.Let's just hope there's alot of one possession games spilling into overtime.Off seasons are too damn long these days

Northwestern looks pretty bad on paper, and isn't doing so hot in ELA's simulation either.  On paper, Nebraska looks like a much better team, but who knows.  Northwestern's last 2 openers were shocking for different reasons:

2020: Northwestern 43, Maryland 3
2021: Michigan State 38, Northwestern 21

I really don't know what to expect from these guys the first week, and that goes double for Nebraska.
