What will be interesting how will they do the next cycle starting in 2022.
I've been told UNL will either have PSU or Michigan in the next 6 year rotation starting in 2022...

This is an interesting opinion piece. I guess, I didn't read as much into it as Mike Hlas with The Gazette. Maybe I should -- it is just that over a 9 or 10 year span teams like Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin can change their ways, and you cannot predict that far forward which game is likely to be the division championship game.

Nebraska's geography presents difficult recruiting obstacles, more so as a member of the Big Ten Conference, than it did when it was in the Big 12.  Iowa State, which now has had 2 or 3 years of higher enrollment than Iowa, and has a good coach, will be more competitive going forward for in-state recruiting, and so that could knock down Iowa's recruiting in-state in coming years. I just know the Wisconsin-Iowa series I regard as Iowa's best rivalry series.

UNL has only a few traditions left from the old Big8 days..  this is just one more that has been abandoned by the current administration and the Big10.

yup, many conferences have tried to set things up to put the biggest games on the biggest stage late in the season.  Hasn't worked very well for the most part.
Interesting that in the Big 12 the Sooner/Horn game has been left in it's original and traditional early October slot.

Well it was nice of them to leave Rivalry Week open, just in case the powers that be magically become smart enough to bring back the Texas-aTm/Nebraska-Oklahoma rivalries.

It cannot be emphasized enough that the Big Ten league office will protect Michigan-Ohio State at all costs from all comers, even though the big 2-little 8/10/12 era is dead and gone.

Few thoughts with the schedule:
1.  I like the fact that when Ohio State plays Illinois (every 3 years or so) it is often being put the week before Michigan.  That is our only trophy game and was a big game for a long time even if forgotten now by most.  If it is going to be reserved to a once every 3 years things, I at least like giving it a good spot.

2.  Last round of schedules I was kind of expecting the west partners to switch up a bit, but was not expecting it after they didn't do it then.  Even then though, I was not expecting to see Nebraska/Minnesota end together.  Minnesota over the years has ended with both Wisconsin and Iowa (although much more Wisconsin).  Meanwhile, in the first couple of years of Nebraska in the conference, the Wisconsin/Nebraska series seemed to get some bad blood and started to feel like it might become their biggest rivalry.  Thought they might switch to a rotation where one of Wisconsin/Iowa was facing Minnesota and other facing Nebraska on a rotating basis.  Never guessed we would end up with a Nebraska/Minnesota final.  That said, Minnesota is Nebraska's most played game in the conference so there is something there.

3.  I will echo that I do not like early season conference games.  I will at least applaud that they are not making any team play more than one in the first three weeks.  I would be a lot happier though if they at least waited to week 2 for anyone.

4.  Definitely an effort to put the crossover games earlier in the year to the extent possible (with 7 team divisions, you always need one crossover game if everyone is playing).

5.  Still despise the parity based scheduling.  From a scheduling perspective it actually flows nicely (letting you have 6 year periods where everyone basically has one locked opponent and rotates through everyone else twice) and I get why they like it.  I hate how long these games are apart now though.

I had to open the .pdf in the original article to see other rivalry week games. Michigan State's rival in 2020 and 21 is . . . Maryland. Seems like Maryland and Rutgers are rotating Penn State as a rival for rivalry week.

A fine program that Michigan State, but as long as it has been in the conference it can't find a rival to disdain in rivalry week.

The lengths the interested parties have gone to keep the game at the Cotton Bowl should answer the question.  If it were moved to JerryWorld, I would expect everyone to scrap the neutral site altogether.  
I've been to WLOCP and the Red River and there is nothing like it at the State Fair.  We've messed up enough traditions leave it alone. Having the game in late November does nothing to make it better. Besides, there would be Bedlam if you mess w Bedlam. At least in Stillwater.

They were the third wheel in UM-OSU, sort of like Iowa is to Wisconsin-Minnesota.
I think Penn State made sense, as manufactured as it felt.  Nebraska-Iowa made all the sense in the world.  So naturally they go and screw that up.
