My 6-6 doesn't look so bad of a prediction now.
At this point it might be optimistic.  The Cornhuskers are 4-3 and here are their five remaining games ranked (by me) in order of likelihood to win:
  • vs Indiana (next Saturday)
  • at Maryland (11/23)
  • at Purdue (11/2)
  • vs Iowa (11/29)
  • vs Wisconsin (11/16)

If we assume (reasonably, I would argue) that they have almost no chance against either the Badgers or the Hawkeyes then they have to go 2-1 against the Hoosiers, Terps, and Boilermakers to get to a bowl.  If they lose to Indiana they are in big trouble.

This is your formal invitation to Phil & Harry's BIG RED Sharkwater Party on November 16th!

On November 16th the Huskers will host the Wisconsin Badgers in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Kickoff time has not been set. I thought it would be nice to start a tailgate party about 10am on Saturday.
Stop by, sit in a lawn chair, eat , drink, and talk college football.

Same spot as the past few seasons. A parking lot on the northwest corner of 8th and "L" Street. The lot is just three blocks south of "O" Street on South 8th street.  Near the Meadow Gold Dairy and under the Rosa Parks Way overpass.
Go to Google Maps and type in, "801 L Street, Lincoln, NE" or try this link:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/801+L+St,+Lincoln,+NE+68508/@40.8103181,-96.7099837,18z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x8796bf03ca51d6b7:0xf179fbb64906ef5d

Bring whatever food and beverage you'd like. Harry have a grill there. We’ll have burgers and brats and some beer (Bud Heavy)
A lawn chair and cheap sunglasses will come in handy.
I'll have paper plates, napkins, some mustard, a folding table, a cooler or two, and a large batch of "Sharkwater".
I’m hoping our Wisconsin Badger friends will attend the party!  Opposing fans ALWAYS make the party.
This will be my 18th Sharkwater Party.  Harry is kind enough to host the event at his tailgate party, so please be respectful.
Please let me know if you plan to attend.  Trying to get a rough head count.
Fearless Phil

I get this and I agree, but I am surprised that Nebraska is looking THIS bad.  They have played four B1G games so far and in each of those they have done worse or as bad as every other B1G team to play that opponent:
  • They lost to tOSU by 41.  That is as bad as IU and worse than MSU (24).
  • They lost to Minnesota by 27.  That is worse than PU (7) and ILL (23).
  • They beat Northwestern by 3.  That is worse than MSU (21) and UW (9).
  • They beat Illinois by 4.  That is worse than Michigan (17) and MN (23).

The Cornhuskers need two more wins to go bowling and right now I don't think that is any better than a 50/50 chance at best.  I'm surprised, I didn't expect them to get to the CFP this year, but I didn't expect them to struggle for bowl eligibility either.
The only difference makers in in the program right now are a true freshman who is hurt, a true sophmore QB who is hurt, a true Sophmore RB who is dinged up and an upper classman WR who dinged up.  There are 2 jr's starting on this team.  2.    Last year UNL had a SR WR, SR RB, several SR's on the OL.  It was enough of a difference.  This year, the starting Center is a RS Freshman with a lot of talent, but he played TE last year.  UNL is young up front in the trenches and just like other programs in the west, has to build OL talent, not recruit it.

I'd also submit that UNL's N on the helmet recieves a different focus from opponents compared to Ill, or MSU.  Like a USC, even if they are down, teams want to beat them... they are a name brand.  UNL has that same problem.  The program gets other teams best.  and that includes OSU.  Buckeye's didn't drop passes vs UNL, but they did vs MSU.  Which game did they have more focus?  We both know the answer...

Nebraska student-athletes have posted a 93 percent NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR), continuing the Huskers' long tradition of being a national leader in the classroom. The NCAA released its GSR scores on Wednesday, with Nebraska recording its highest all student-athlete rate for the seventh consecutive year.

In addition to the highest all student-athlete GSR in Nebraska history, 10 Husker teams achieved a perfect 100 percent GSR. Those teams included women's basketball, women's gymnastics, rifle, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, women's tennis, volleyball, men's gymnastics and men's tennis.

The women's basketball, women's tennis and volleyball programs have achieved a perfect GSR each of the 15 years the rate has been computed by the NCAA.

The 93 percent GSR rate is another milestone for a program that has long been a national leader in academic and athletic achievement. Nebraska leads the nation with 338 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in school history across all sports. Nebraska also leads the nation with 17 NCAA Today's Top 10 Award winners.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Three-time Nebraska track and field All-American Angela Mercurio was named the NCAA Woman of the Year at the award ceremony on Sunday night.

Mercurio became the second University of Nebraska student-athlete all-time to receive the honor, joining former Nebraska volleyball national champion Billie Winsett-Fletcher (1996).

The NCAA Woman of the Year award has been presented annually since 1991 and recognizes the nation's top senior female student-athlete who has excelled in the award's four pillars of academics, athletics, service and leadership. Mercurio and Winsett-Fletcher are the only student-athletes from a current Big Ten school to have been chosen as NCAA Woman of the Year.

"I'm really grateful to be here," Mercurio said. "Thank you to the NCAA for allowing us women to stand on a stage like this, and to share our voices and share our stories. This is very amazing. Thank you to the representatives from Nebraska, and to Nebraska in general. They truly give us so much, and there is no place like Nebraska. I say that confidently."

A native of Kitchener, Ontario, Mercurio was a two-time Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team selection, as well as a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Earlier this year, she was also a recipient of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship and was honored as one of the first-ever Rose Bowl Game Keith Jackson Postgraduate Scholarship recipients. She graduated from Nebraska in May with a 3.99 GPA as a double major in biochemistry and women's & gender studies.

"From virtually the day she arrived at Nebraska, Angela has been someone who has been so special to our program," Head Coach Gary Pepin said. "She was not only a terrific athlete, she was a great leader, a captain and a tremendous student, and she was wonderful to work with. We're very, very proud of her and she has earned everything that she's received."

That was the war cry of my H.S. as our rival beat us every year.  (IIRC, it was my senior year they beat us 2-0 in the pouring rain.)
That's the school of Husker recruit Sevion Morrison, as I have previously related.  Well, his Edison Eagles lost 42-41 in the state 5A semifinals last night.  Very sad.  I think they finish the year 10-2.  One of the wins was an all-time ass-whuppin' of rival Memorial.

Gaylord seeking a sixth year: Nebraska senior left tackle Christian Gaylord, who missed the entire season with a knee injury, is not taking part in senior day festivities on Friday because he plans to file a waiver to receive a sixth year of eligibility, according to NU.

Gaylord suffered a season-ending injury during preseason camp and is considered a strong candidate to receive an extra year of eligibility.

The Baldwin, Kansas, native has played in 33 career games since redshirting in 2015 when he first arrived on campus, but has never started a game on the Husker offensive line.

Before the injury this year, he was considered Nebraska’s No. 2 left tackle behind junior Brenden Jaimes.
