Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska baseball team (22-23, 6-10 Big Ten) won the rubber match against Maryland, 5-2, at Hawks Field on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Matt Warren earned the win after going a season-high 6.2 shutout innings. He recorded four strikeouts, while allowing five hits and one walk. Paul Tillotson made a relief appearance of 0.2 inning before Jake Hohensee notched his team-high 11th save in 1.2 innings of work.

Nebraska turned four double plays during the game and for the second consecutive game, didn’t commit any errors. The two teams were scoreless through three innings before Nebraska scored one run in the bottom of the fourth. Senior Scott Schreiber continued his torrid pace with a solo home run to right field. It marked his second home run of the weekend, his 18th of the season and the 44th of his career to put him in a tie for fourth on NU’s career chart with Alex Gordon.

Iowa took 2 out of 3 from 17th ranked Okie State this weekend.
It's been an odd year. Iowa played the top teams in the Big Ten, and stands 9-7 in conference play. The next two weekends are against bottom feeders, so the conference record should improve.
Winning the Okie State series should get Iowa off the bubble for the tournament selection if they follow through the next two weeks and take care of business..

I'll be attending the Husker/Hoosier baseball game in Lincoln Saturday afternoon with the Vine Street Bomber

Nebraska leads the all-time series against Indiana, 11-9-1, dating back to the first meeting between the schools in 1899. The Huskers are 4-2 at home all time against the Hoosiers.

Indiana is 31-14 this season with a 9-8 record in Big Ten play. IU is ranked in NCBWA (27), Baseball America (18) and the USA Today Coaches Poll (16). The Hoosiers enter the weekend on a four-game losing streak after falling

OSU takes the Purdue series 2-1.

On the road from here on out. At Cincy midweek, and then in E Lansing to close out the regular season.

MSU took the opener from #16 Minnesota, but blew a 4-0 lead yesterday, and dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker today.

OSU got spanked by the Bearcats.

Nothing like heading into the stretch run on a hot streak.

Last I saw MSU was down 11-2 on Senior Day to CMU.  Should he a great weekend series.  Glad this is the first time all year BTN has televised us.

Big win over yesterday gives MSU control of their Big 10 tourney destiny.  They are now in with a win OR a Maryland loss.

Florida lost its first weekend series since early April of 2017.  Miss State got to an emergency spot-starter after our ace felt a twinge in his hammy warming up.  Sigh.

Big win for MSU to clinch the final spot in the tournament next weekend, even if it is a short stay.

Won two in a row with their backs against the wall.

Really good job by the pitching staff against the best offense in the conference.  They got to our closer on Friday for an 8 run 9th inning, but held them to 7 total runs over the other 26 innings
