1938 Tennessee Volunteers (team creation)

I love games that give you room to create.

While I have no intention of making very many teams, I love old school football.

I know the 51 National Champion Vol team is officially being made (HOORAY!!!!!) so I decided to try my hand at a team a little further back.

1938 was one of General Neyland’s greatest teams at Tennessee (most say the greatest Tennessee team ever).  Out of the 11 starters that played both ways, 6 were All Americans and 4 are in the College Football Hall of Fame. I put them together with the information I have on them.

Legends like George “Bad News” Cafego, Bowden Wyatt, Ed Molinski, and the great Bob Suffridge.

Can’t wait to put them on the field tonight.

I intend to do the 1939 VOLS that were not scored upon (the last team to accomplish that feat), the 1929 VOLS with the great backfield of McEver, Dodd, and Hackman, and the 1931 VOLS with McEver and Beattie Feathers.

After that, maybe the 1912 Carlisle Indians with Jim Thorpe.

Have at it!
We don't like to advertise a team unless we can get all of the info we include on all our teams.  Issues for the older teams are defensive statistics and even roster numbers.
Our Tennessee online source is their digital library, which is very thorough.  We're confident in producing the '51 Vols, but would have to research further in going back beyond that.
.
Our teams from the 40s and 50s include the lineups that played both ways.  If we do create those late 30s UT teams, it'll be because we found all the info we need.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and enjoy the game!

Yeah, I know for the official stuff you produce, your requirements would be more stringent.
