the registration verification

the "turn the pics until they're upright' thing is gone... i loaded that thing with intent to come back and add some relevant pics- until i saw the hoops you had to jump through to make that happen...

so, in its stead and with remaining intent to stiff arm spammers, i added stupid questions a machine wouldn't know how to answer.... if you guys are game, come up with about twenty of those for us?

the registration verification is back 'on'..... the other function actually trapped 'too many' would be spammers, and several who tried to register got thrown out with them.

so...

back to questions i wager anyone here can answer.  all lower case.  should be able to participate right after registering now.

I suggest you use the CleanTalk service.  Easy to use, near perfect at stopping not only bad member registrations but posts as well with no work on your part.  I use it on all forums now, the time savings is well worth the $8/yr.

I've already got it installed- I just need to flip the switch on it... I ran with the free trial for a bit, and let it expire.

it's crossed my mind that i've kicked several legit people out with the trash attempting to screen each and every one of them... you wouldn't believe the traffic from Asia- namely Russia, and verified spammers according to the services i use to bounce IP's... I feel like a bad news reel blaming the Russian's for everything!!!!  On one hand I can't blame them (for attempting to spam) as the are just trying to make a living- but on the other they make the nickel and dime costs of running websites really add up...

based on your recommendation, though- I think I'll set that up and flip that switch.
