I really can’t watch Tennessee football anymore.
It’s just TOO frustrating and depressing.
We have developed a tradition of mediocrity. And of having the most bizarre, upside down turn of events possible. Or even imaginable. Routinely. And injuries, injuries, injuries.
I don’t understand it. How long does this curse last?
The field goal return was the last straw. Joy, celebration — wait; flag. Great.
Okay. No TD. We’ll take it 10 yards from the spot of the foul. Damn.
What? Off-setting penalties? How do you block in the back, when the other team has the ball?
Replay the down? So they get the ball back, AFTER the change of possession? Because THEY effed up? Punt. Downed at the one.
So freakin’ typical.
A 100-yd. (125 or150, really, counting the punt), 6-point, change of possession penalty.
The harshest in football history.
It’s right up there with being at the one-yard line against Bama. And JG changes the play to a sneak. Scoop and score for them.
Or Pig Howard losing possession in mid-air, two inches from the goal line, in OT against UGA. Ball rolls through the end zone, out of bounds.
UGA ball. At the UT 25.
Two inches. Loss of possession, and 75 yards of real estate.
Unbelievable.
I cannot imagine a game this year that I will be interested in watching.
Sorry —that’s just the way it is. I keep waiting for a change. But there never is one.
When was the last time anything positive happened with UT football? The comeback win against mighty Indiana? A year and a half ago?
Whee.
At this point, I can’t imagine seeing a full upper deck at Neyland again. Not in the foreseeable future (and who knows how long that future is?). My advice is to go with chair back seats throughout the stadium. Bring attendance down to a manageable 80K or so.
End of rant.
Just getting it off my chest.
