I have never criticized the Haslam family - others have, but not me.
But as for Pruitt, nice try, but doesn't seem to be working out.
But he gets one more year to fix things as UT cannot afford to pay out Pruitt and his staff.
But I fully expect Fulmer to do his homework done completely and have a few preliminary conversations with some talented coaches so that this time next year, if he needs to pull the trigger, he has options 1, 2 and 3 all lined up.
I think we spent weeks persuing coaches who finally said "no", etc. and finally went with Pruitt. Fulmer needs to put in the legwork in the next 6 to 9 months to know which coaches would be willing to take the UT job and not waste time on a bunch of coaches who end up saying no and that no "mitigating circumstances" arise that forces UT to rescind an offer.
