Barnes: Vols would welcome back players that use free year
« on: October 27, 2020, 12:04:16 PM »
When the NCAA moved to give winter athletes a free year of eligibility a little less than two weeks ago, just like it did with fall-sport athletes competing during the coronavirus pandemic, it put wheels in motion for Rick Barnes.
“That was my first recruiting call that day,” Barnes said last week. “I got over here and (he was) the first guy I talked to, I said, man, you are going to be a lifer.”
That first guy was redshirt senior forward John Fulkerson. During a breakout 2019-20 season, Fulkerson led the Vols in scoring (13.7 points), field-goal percentage (.612) and rebounding (5.9) on his way to second team All-SEC honors. The Vols are hoping not only will Fulkerson build on those numbers during his fifth season in the program, but possibly in a sixth year, too.

President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”
