Speaking of Death Valley, never let it be said that LSU fans can't be paranoid with the best of them. But, hey, it's not paranoia when they're really out to get you.
"We" are none too happy about the game being put at 11:00. That is a crime against humanity. Only the 11th morning game ever played in Tiger Stadium, and at least one of those was moved due to an incoming hurricane where evacuation was recommended later that evening. (App. St. in 2008, iirc, was played at like 9 in the morning so everybody could get home, pack up, and leave the area).
"We" are also noticing that Tennessee has the week off while we're playing a night game at Auburn, followed by a morning game vs. UT. So UT gets a whole week off, we don't even get a full week between games. Some of "us" think the tilt is in, the SEC wants an undefeated UT facing off against an undefeated Bama and are doing whatever little things they can think of to help it happen.
"I" generally don't ascribe to malice what can be explained with incompetence, and in that spirit, I doubt the conference is that clever, nor do I think they'd use whatever pull they have with the networks to make that happen, although I DO think the front office wants Bama/UT both undefeated and top 10.
It still doesn't matter to me. Day games suck, they're not our tradition, and the SEC has gone to bat for every team in this league to help them with this's and that's, except us. Not once have they lifted a finger in any request or difference of intent.
Tennessee is probably a significantly better team than us and god knows what kind of shape we'll be in after a trip to the Plains, but I am pretty sure of one thing: the players, no matter where they're from, seem to imbibe and embody the culture of the program. I think the whole thing, the players, coaches, admin, fans, all of it, are gonna be pissed and spitting venom when UT comes to town. Good luck with that. This isn't a vintage LSU squad but there's enough there to be dangerous if things break the right way.
Yeah, they really do take their night games that seriously. We hate everything about CBS, their dumbazz 2:30 slot, and the fact that they keep using their night option at Alabama and not Baton Rouge. Screw everything about it. If Kelly is as good a coach as he's supposed to be, he'll find a way to convince the players that UT did this to them, and payback comes out of their backside.
