Week 11
« on: November 06, 2022, 09:53:02 AM »
I'm coming off (back?) from I think my worst week ever....

Mizzou at Tenn - Could be ugly, Vols 47-17.

LSU at Arky - I'm tempted to call for a hangover game, but LSU wins late 34-30.

Vandy at UK - Vandy will not win one this year going out, UK 37-13.

Bama at Ole Miss - Bama pulls it out late this time, 41-33.

USCe at Florida - Gators seem to be OK, USCe is less OK, UF wins 31-24.

UGA at Miss State - I called this as an upset preseason, but am changing my mind, but tough, UGA prevails late 27-21

A&M at Auburn - Teams both needing a win, I'll go with Auburn, 24-18, and seats starts to get hot.

Ark just lost to Liberty. They’re also one of our 3 wins this season. In other words, they’re really bad.

LSU is not so far removed from a bad season they will let this one slip. I think they’re going to jump all over them and not let up the gas.

Look for a 45-10 type of score.

A&M vs Auburn. One has an interim coach, the other has a should be lame duck coach.

At this point it really makes no difference who wins. I doubt I will even watch.

I will say that Weigman is much better than King. The defense puzzles me the most. We can’t get all three phases of the game going in the same game yet.

I think it makes some difference at Auburn, and probably a L for A&M would make their situation even worse.  A W for A&M won't make much better though.  Auburn I think is looking for some measure of redemption with the interim, so it's not as if his job is on the line.

If any of you ever repeat this, I'll deny it, but it makes me happy to see Cadillac Williams calling the shots for AU on the sidelines.  They love him around there and he loves Auburn.  He's the Kevin Faulk of Auburn, and I mean that in all the best ways.

Kelly has been very good at Notre Dame in November.  You have to go back a long time for a late season loss, excepting bowl games when they've run into superior talent.  Generally LSU hasn't lost focus when they get past Alabama and are in control for the west.

That said, LSU still has serious problems and it's not a given that they're definitely the better team.  Arkansas has been dealing with injuries to their QB, who pretty much is their offense.  How he's faring this weekend might seal their fate one way or the other.

It may tell us something about what to expect from Kelly's teams, how they handle all this.  Early morning kickoff, cold weather, away from home, coming off a big win, opponent with nothing to lose, etc.  All the classic signs of a trap game.  We'll see how it goes.

Vegas is amazing.

I did better, of course not seeing the Vandy win at all.  I don't know what happened to UK.  I figured they must have lost the TO battle, but they won it 2-1 and were outgained by Vandy.

weird.

So, the Dawgs visit UK this weekend and I guess now I don't expect much of a fight, the Dawgs seem businesslike.

You've angered the ECFGs and have ensured UGA's downfall.

I'll just leave this here >:(

Arkansas vs. #1 LSU 2007 (3-OT) - YouTube

Almost did it again.

Doesn't really matter if LSU were a good team....in the past 20 years 13 games between Ark and LSU have been decided by a TD or less.  I think that's especially true @Arkansas, I'd have to check.  I don't know why, you can count on Arkansas to give LSU a hard time, like clockwork.  In this case it's much easier to assess, of course.....the Hawgs aren't as bad as their record indicates and LSU is not exactly hot stuff.

If not for an outstanding day from Perkules, LSU doesn't win that game.

Along with most Tiger fans (purple and gold variety) I watched the Bama/Ole Miss game with interest.  Watching all three teams play on Saturday, it's hard to believe LSU beat the other two.  I don't think I've ever seen a hotter mess bumble their way to a division title.  OTOH, there was the part where Ole Miss fans boo'd an Alabama offensive lineman who went down after a play that moved the chains.....because they thought he was faking it??  It doesn't get any more Ole Miss than that.  I hate those guys.

The scene at Auburn was pretty memorable.  You don't often see that kind of excitement and enjoyment from a crowd who's coach got fired and who's season tanked.  Cadillac is not a guy you'd hand the keys to the car, but you can't help but root for him during the interim.

Ugh.  Now I have to go wash my mouth out with soap.
