Which is the option middling football programs should take:

1. Ole Miss: Cheat so obviously it all becomes undeniable

2. Miss State: Steady up the HC, take what wins you can against LSU & Arkansas, benefit from others misfortunes (Ole Miss), and when it all comes together every get ready for a big season about once every 5 years.

considering option 1 resulted in about the same success rate as option 2, i'd go with 2 and forgo the sanctions.

The problem for a middlin' kind of program is that you may hit a homerun on a coaching hire and in four years he's gone.

Coaching is obviously the key to CFB.  Programs with deep pockets are going to be in the search for coaches, at least 2-3-4 a year.  Look at what happened at Houston.

OBVIOUS blatant cheating is also not going to survive these days.

I'd say try and be "flexible" on academic standards and get a decent coach and hope for a 9 win season every so often.
