It's UGA vs. UT week
« on: September 27, 2017, 03:48:26 PM »
Not going to lie to you.....I want this one REAL bad.
The media is expecting UGA to win by 3 scores, but if i'm being honest, i'm expecting UGA to get UT's best shot this Saturday.  Knoxville is always a tough place to play, UT seems to have their backs against the wall somewhat after less than stellar performance against.......UMASS.  Maybe it was the hangover from the Florida game, but UT will come out swinging as teams who have been hearing how bad they are for a few weeks tend to do.

Will UGA players buy into the hype the media is pumping up their collective behinds this week after handing the Bulldogs from the west their asses on a silver platter this past Saturday or will we see a team coming in there to handle business? How will Jake Fromm handle the noise? How will our running game establish itself to protect the young QB? Can our Defense force Dormandy into some INT's like UF did? Can they stop Kelly? Can both sides of the ball avoid costly penalties?

My gut says yes, but this one is closer than most think and UGA scores late to make it a 10 point game.

UGA 27
UT 17

I think it'll be close and hinge on turn overs.

i just don't see it... UGA can play half speed on D and still stifle the UT O... this will be the biggest UT home blow out ever... something to the tune of 56/63 to 3/7.

If UGA shuts down the Vols' run like we did Clanga and the Irish, we win in a romp.  If our guys have been closing the bars downtown all week and chasing sweet UGA co-eds, then Tenn will kick our buts.

Been posting with you 11 years and every prediction ends with caveats about turnovers.  I'm beginning to sense a pattern....

Probably 80% of major upsets hinge on turnovers, and 65% of the outcomes of competitive games hinge on turn overs and special teams play.  We often see the numbers otherwise being about even and the winner has a 2-0 or 3-1 margin on TOs and perhaps a special teams play.

If last week's games are any indication of how the teams play, Then Georgia will kick our keisters. If If the past few games in the series are a guide, then it could be anybody's game. If it's the latter, then it should be an exciting game. As much as anything, I think the outcome will rest on Dormandy's decision making. He's been guilty of some untimely bad decisions this year. UT has an awful lot to prove in this game. Georgia has already proven that they can be a contender. UT, not so much.

Last week I was feeling the red and black dawgs big, this week I am sensing a closer game in the force.  I'm guessing UT will play inspired for the home crowd and make a game out of it, but will find a way to lose it while UGA finds a way to win it.

IMO Tennessee just doesn't have the athletes to compete with Georgia. I don't think Tennessee is as good as they were last year. I don't see recruiting on a level necessary to reach the heights that Tennessee requires. I think this is an indictment on Butch Jones after five years.

I think Tennessee's only chance would be Fromm regressing to what a freshman typically does.

I'm thinking the team with the most points will win.

Actual question - if UGA rolls big, 31-3 or something like that or worse, is Jones gone?  Or no matter what happens, UT wouldn't release that decision until the season is over/nearly over?

@OrangeAfroMan the current fashion is to appease the entitled boosters... they'd cut him by Saturday night, if that their reaction.

I disagree Bamajoe, the Vols have the athletes (5 top 15 classes in a row). It's the coaching and bad decisions at UT that is piss poor. Coach Jones has reached his ceiling. He can't do any better than 9 to 10 games per season (to include the bowl game).

I can not fathom Coach Cutt putting a QB on the field so woefully prepared, continually throwing off his back foot, and throwing into triple coverage habitually. I've seen true freshman better prepared under Cutt but Dormady is a JR. It's mind blowing.

Last year Coach Jones fired his S&C coach before the season (or he quit in disgust) and we go through the season without a S&C coach. When you look at photos of Fulmer teams the guys looked like body builders. When you look at photos of Jones teams they look fat.

Regardless, the Vols are not capable of being champions of anything under Jones and this Saturday the Vols will get spanked.

Vols 247 recruiting rankings:

2017 - 17th
2016 - 14th
2015 -  4th
2014 -  7th

UGA

2017 - 3rd
2016 - 6th
2015 - 6th
2014 - 8th

I don't know how much real difference there is between say 6th and 14th.  Those kids would be sophomores now.
