Heupel's Excuses and What He Needs From Joe Milton
« on: September 25, 2023, 09:39:41 AM »
Sounds like he's talking about a freshman or sophomore QB not a six year senior. Plus putting blame on the receviers for Miltons bad passes.

If a QB is in his 6th year and still doesn't have a grasp on the basics then he isn't ever going to do it.

A little bit off my ass he wasn't even close on a couple the and just flat assed missed on others.

Heuple needs to face reality his project is just that still a project in the making.

“Want him to continue to make plays,” Heupel said. “Going to have to use his feet. You saw it tonight in the run game. As we go, in our drop-back pass game, he’s going to have to work the pocket, climb the pocket, escape, make plays with his feet, extend and make plays with his arm. That’ll be critical as we continue to go. Need him to take great care of the football. There’s still a level of efficiency that we can get to in our passing game, and I’m saying that’s Joe, it’s our wideouts, it’s our tight ends – it’s all that together that we can take another jump.”

The lull for Tennessee’s offense included some missed chances from Milton. He narrowly missed Chas Nimrod for a 50-yard touchdown just before halftime and also had the likes of Keyton and Squirrel White open for potential big plays. He also had White open for a touchdown and was off the mark.
Tennessee had three straight drives end in punts.

“Couple of them are him,” Heupel said. “There’s a couple of deep balls where we’re a little bit off. Wide receivers being in-sync on some of their route patterns, too, in the middle of the field. So it’s a combination of all those things in the middle that didn’t let us operate as efficiently as we needed to be.”
