Future SEC scheduling
« on: June 12, 2022, 01:45:49 PM »
So each school apparently was asked to submit their top 5 preferred annual opponents if the SEC goes to the divisionless 3+6/6 model for scheduling.  This will only likely actually happen if the playoff is expanded.
So I thought everyone should post here and make a guess at each school's list of 5 teams they're ranking to be part of the 3 they'd play every year.
.
I feel like there's 2 schools of thought after obvious rivalries:  wanting big name programs, even risking a loss VS scheduling less notorious easier wins.  The top, name programs probably want the former and the lesser programs either want a mix or just as much of the latter as they can get.
.
Florida:  Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Alabama
Georgia:  Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Carolina, Alabama-----how'd I do?
Carolina:  Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vandy, Alabama?
Kentucky:  Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Carolina, Vandy
Vandy:  Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Carolina, Kentucky?
Tennessee:  Alabama, Vandy, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky
Alabama:  Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Georgia, Florida
Auburn:  Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Tennessee
LSU:  Alabama, Auburn, A&M, Texas, Arkansas
Arkansas:  LSU, Texas, A&M, Mizzou, Alabama
Ole Miss:  MSU, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas
MSU:  Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas
Mizzou:  Arkansas, OU, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vandy
A&M:  Texas, LSU, Arkansas, Alabama, OU
Texas:  OU, A&M, Arkansas, LSU, Alabama
OU:  Texas, A&M, Mizzou, LSU, Arkansas?
.
I may be way off on some of these.  What say you?

For UGA the first three are obvious, and then it gets a lot less clear.  I personally would prefer playing UK than USCe, but there isn't an obvious 4 and 5 I think.  I  guess sticking with contiguous makes some sense.

UGA has OOC series slated with OU and Texas, I surmise that will change, but the OU away game is next year.

You definitely got Texas right, for my preference.

I'd also really look forward to conference games against Florida and Georgia. Especially since, as CD states, we're going to lose our OOC series we have scheduled with UGA a few years down the road.

for bama, i'd go:

1a - tennessee
1b - auburn
3 - lsu
4 - msu
5 - doesn't matter? uf or uga i guess.

i prefer tenn at top spot cause that was the "big bad" rival in my formative years, but they're basically indistinguishable. lsu is an easy third, but msu/bama has a lot of history. 2nd most played opp for bama (1 less than tenn), closest campuses in sec, i'm guessing they're on this list of top 5 for bama. for 5th, maybe ole miss, but i'll lean either of the other 2 big boys. or ou/texas. maybe ou to start a crimson rivalry. or better yet, texas to get our record up vs them.

Well you'll get one notch closer in September in Austin.  I'm just hoping it stays within 4 TDs.

Texas-Bama games could be epic.  They sounds like NC bowl games of yore for some reason, to me.

I am assuming Texas will get back to being Texas in a few.

Looking forward to some of these matchups.  I agree with the 5 for OU.  I hope Arkansas makes the final 3.  I grew up in eastern Oklahoma closer to Fayettenam than Norman.  There was lots of jawing between the fan bases but very few games played.  Texas is obviously going to be permanent and I don't really care who the 3rd is if we get Arkansas.
