So Tennessee is going to beat Florida and lose to Arkansas.  Sure, why not.

It is very rare that anyone goes back after the season to check on these "predictions" (wild ass guesses intended to generate clicks).

So, "they" can predict whatever and get attention, it doesn't matter of course.

That's the sliding scale being set all the way over at "entertainment," if people held the taking heads accountable, it'd be about competition and honestly, gambling.

Hence Lee Corso putting on the mascot headgear....purely entertainment purposes only.

I know folks did try and hold the preseason magazines "accountable".  They all would claim the next year to have been the best predictor out there.  Of course, whichever one was the best one year likely would be worse the next, and their "margin of victory" would have been small and some random factor.  There are of course myriad ways of assessing predictions, so one can find one somewhere that "proves" one is the best.

I know folks would swear by this or that magazine.  At one time many years ago I'd pick Athlon up to peruse.  I really didn't learn much from it.  I didn't find their "insights" very insightful.  Maybe that was my fault.

I now view all of this as social media gone wild and the desire to get clicks.

I always bought Athlon because they had the projected 2-deep for each team.  But yeah, 10 of us from this board could put out better, deeper content, at least for the P5 teams.

I wouldn't want the job of doing an in-depth write-up for New Mexico State or UNC-Charlotte, ya know?

ELA does it, I don't know how, or if his write ups are entirely his own.  Maybe he uses Athlon.  Maybe Athlon uses some local writer?

I'm fairly confident Florida will defeat Arkansas, BTW.  I'd put a small wager to that effect.  The Vols COULD be less certain.  LSU will be interesting.  But if I make the usual banal picks, no one will click or pay attention, so I add some spice.

No, you are right.

I used to buy most all of them.

Glaring errors all over the place.  Wrong stats, wrong names, etc.

Any fan that followed their team just casually should have been insulted by the “analysis”.

I was.

Now that this is gone, just play a full 13 game round robin and tell the NCAA to go f themselves if they object.
