CBS not going to broadcast SEC games after 2023

Wow!!  They were paying $55 MM.  Now the price is well north of $300 MM.

I liked watching the SEC on CBS.  I don't care for the ABC/ESPN broadcast because there are so many other games/conferences on.  Especially when they stay with some other game when yours starts.

Been trying to tell errbody for years how they are a bunch of cheapskate bastards. And extend SEC games an hour with their damn commercials. The $55M is divided into 15 shares (SEC office gets a share) which means each school gets a measly $3.67M per year. Since the money grabbing SOBs put Bama on 5 times a year that means Bama gets $733,333 per game. If Bama owned the rights to those games they could get $5-6M EACH!

Because CBS would not renegotiate the contract when aTm and MO were added, it cost each of the existing schools $260K per year. The previous split was 14 shares with the SEC office getting two shares.

"CBS’s decision not to extend the SEC when they added Texas A&M and Mizzou will go down in sports media history as one of the dumbest business decisions of all time. Credit to ESPN, they extended their deal at that point in time. CBS blew it."-Clay Travis

WTH is Clay Travis talking about? When you can pay 75% less than the competition for a product and charge 50% more for your commercials because you have a better product than them, then you have made one of the smartest business decisions of all time.
