Predictions for every team with major expectations for Alabama, Georgia - CBS Sports

Alabama
Over/under 11.5 wins
Analysis: You'd have to be out of your mind to pick any team to go over 11.5 just because the only way that you can win is if that team has an undefeated regular season. Sure, it's Alabama, but roster holes on offense are just too big to ignore against an LSU team that is going to look much more like the 2019 version of the Tigers than the 2020 edition. Alabama fans can take solace in the fact that an 11-1 season, even if it doesn't include a berth in the SEC Championship Game, could land the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff. Pick: Under 11.5 (-120)

Georgia
Over/under 10.5 wins
  • Wins: vs. ClemsonUAB, South Carolina, at Vanderbilt, Arkansas, at Auburn, Kentucky, vs. Florida, Missouri, at Tennessee, vs. Charleston Southern, at Georgia Tech
  • Losses: None
Analysis: This is the year for Georgia. No, seriously, this is it. The Bulldogs are loaded on defense, have one of the best quarterbacks in the country, a loaded backfield and one of the best top-to-bottom rosters in the entire sport. Plus, they draw Arkansas as their rotating cross-division game and don't exactly have a daunting road schedule. The experience should get them past Clemson in the opener. But even if they fall to the Tigers, an 11-win season still cashes. Pick: Over 10.5 (-130)

Kinda hard for me to pick Bama anything but 12-0, even though 11-1 is obviously possible.  I'm still used to seeing UGA somehow lose to "South Carolina" or "UK".

If Bama loses, it won't be to LSU. You would have thought Tim Brandeau wrote that.

I wouldn't bet over or under on either.

Tennessee has 26 players in the transfer portal. Does not bode well to win 6 games.

The Vols have BGSU, Tenn Tech, and South Bama OOC, plus Pitt.

That SHOULD be three wins right there.  Should.

The get Ole Miss from the west, and some other team.

They COULD beat Mizzou and USCe and maybe UK and Vandy.  The MIGHT win 3 of those 4.

One would figure UF and UGA are not realistic wins for the Vols.

I'd opine 6 is possible, I'd probably guess 5.

They are not going to beat Ole Miss or Kentucky and Missouri may be too good. I think they can beat the three lay ups, Vandy and South Carolina. Pitt is a toss up. I see five or six wins.

Yup, of course they might get an upset win, but just as likely an "upset" loss.  I'd say 7 on the outside, 6 being possible, 5 being probable, and 4 being possible.

At some point, a team can fold the tent of course and then lose to "Vandy".

                                                  Prediction
4-8
Will what he does work when he’s up against ‘Bama and LSU instead of USF and Temple? Who knows? Tennessee is still a name brand. But it won’t be this year… not with what he’s got coming back. The Vols may not be Vandy this year; they might be worse.

I think Vandy has been beating Tennessee lately. I am going with Tennessee in this match up only because Vandy has a new coach.

I'd go with 5-7, some of their opponents are about equally inept.

My hunch is A&M and Auburn may be a bit over rated.  Auburn with a new coach, not usually great for a team.  A&M with very high expectations, and I think they'll be very good, but more 9-3sh.  Tenn as noted has a number of opponents like USCe they could beat, or lose to.

Kentucky has been a fairly tough out of late, good coaching?  They have had QB issues galore.  I like the MSU offensive scheme, they could upset somebody.

Not too too bad.  Auburn was a good call, A&M was still good as I expected.  UK and Arky had nice years.
I missed on LSU and Florida.
