The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. Candidates for the award must meet one or more of the following criteria: be born in Texas, have graduated from a Texas High School or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
Four of the five previous winners have been from the Big 12, with QB Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) being the most recent recipient of the award in 2017.
The watch list will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to five finalists in December. The finalists will be brought to The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 9, 2019.
