Seven Named to Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List

The Walter Camp Player of the Year Preseason Watch List was released with seven Big 12 student-athletes named.

Both TCU and West Virginia have two student-athletes named to the list, RB Darius Anderson (TCU), DE Ben Banogu (TCU), QB Will Grier (West Virginia) and WR David Sills V (West Virginia).

Others named to the list from the Big 12 were RB Rodney Anderson (Oklahoma), RB Justice Hill (Oklahoma State) and WR Collin Johnson (Texas).

In 2017, Baker Maylfield (Oklahoma) was the winner of the Walter Camp Award. In Conference history, there have been six winners of this prestigious national award, with three hailing from Oklahoma and the other three from Texas.

The watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November. The 2018 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 129 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced live on ESPN on Thursday, December 6, 2018. The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation’s 52nd annual national awards banquet on January 12, 2019 in New Haven, Conn.
