Nagurski and Outland Trophy Watch Lists Revealed

Twenty Big 12 student-athletes were named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Outland Trophy Watch List. Nine players are featured on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list and eleven featured on the Outland Trophy watch list.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded to the national defensive player of the year, recognizes DT Ira Lewis (Baylor), DT Ray Lima (Iowa State), DT Daniel Wise (Kansas), DB Duke Shelley (Kansas State), DE Ben Banogu (TCU), DE Kris Boyd (Texas), LB Dakota Allen (Texas Tech), LB David Long Jr. (West Virginia) and DB Dravon Askew-Henry (West Virginia).

The preseason watch list is selected by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) who compiles a list of 97 players. The list is not final for players may be added or removed from the list before or during the season.

The Nagurski Trophy will announce five finalists. The annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet, presented by ACN, will be held December 3, 2018, at the Charlotte Convention Center.

The FWAA also announced the watch list for the 2018 Outland Trophy. The candidates representing the Big 12 are DT Ira Lewis (Baylor), DT Ray Lima (Iowa State), DT Daniel Wise (Kansas), OT Hakeem Adeniji (Kansas), OT Dalton Risner (Kansas State), OT Bobby Evans (Oklahoma), G Ben Powers (Oklahoma), G Dru Samia (Oklahoma), G Marcus Keyes (Oklahoma State), G Patrick Vahe (Texas) and OT Yodny Cajuste (West Virginia). The honor embodies the top interior linemen in college football.

Up to seven semifinalists will be named on November 14, 2018, while three finalists will be announced as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 6, 2018. The official presentation to the winner will be made at the Werner Enterprises Outland Trophy Awards Dinner produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee on January 9, 2019.
