WHAT’S ON TODAY?
Milton Keynes Dons vs. Liverpool (2:40 p.m. ET, ESPN+); Chelsea vs. Grimsby Town (2:40 p.m. ET, ESPN+); Manchester United vs. Rochdale (2:55 p.m. ET, ESPN+): The Carabao Cup continues with some of the biggest teams in English soccer taking on some significant underdogs from the lower-tier leagues. As you might imagine, upsets are somewhat rare — but when they do happen, they’re extraordinary.
Houston Dash vs. Washington Spirit (9 p.m. ET, ESPN2): Rose Lavelle and Mal Pugh look to help the Spirit bounce back from their loss to the Chicago Red Stars in the National Women’s Soccer League. Standing in their way will be the Dash, who’ve lost four of their past five.
A’s at Angels (10 p.m. ET, ESPN): Oakland’s on top in the wild-card race but not by enough that the A’s can take this late-season matchup against Los Angeles for granted. Fortunately for the A’s, they’ll be facing an Angels team without Mike Trout in the lineup.
