Big 12 Soccer On United Soccer Coaches Poll

September 03, 2019

Seventy percent of Big 12 soccer teams were ranked or earned votes in week three’s United Soccer Coaches (USC) Top 25 poll. Kansas and West Virginia remain ranked, while TCU joins the Top 25. Additionally, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas all received votes.

The Jayhawks climbed to No. 11 this week after winning two matches and improving their overall record to 4-0. Senior forward Katie McClure leads the conference with six goals and 14 points, while the Jayhawks are tied with Texas Tech for a league-best plus-12 goal differential.

West Virginia checks in at No. 22 after dropping a road match to No. 5 Virginia on Sunday. The Mountaineers sit at an even .500 mark with a 2-2 record so far in 2019. WVU will take on No. 8 Penn State on Friday, Sept. 6th at home.

TCU enters the poll for the first time this season at No. 24 after a 2-0 weekend that saw the Horned Frogs shutout Sam Houston State and previously-ranked No. 25 SMU. TCU has allowed just two goals this season and recently had two players garner Big 12 weekly soccer awards in Emily Alvarado and Gracie Brian.

With Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas receiving votes, a season-high seventy percent of Big 12 members were mentioned in the USC poll.

Regular-season play continues Thursday, Sept. 5 with No. 24 TCU hosting Arkansas-Little Rock. The remaining nine league members will take the pitch on Friday, Sept. 6.
