Katie McClure (Kansas), Nikki Panas (Oklahoma) and Olyvia Dowell (Oklahoma State) earned Big 12 soccer weekly awards for the first weekend of the 2019 regular season.
McClure was awarded Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals in two games for the Jayhawks, including her first-career hat trick in a 4-0 win over Nebraska. She tallied a conference-high 10 points over the weekend, four more than any other Big 12 player.
Panas earned Defensive Player of the Week honors as she recorded a clean sheet on the road at Arkansas. The Sooners took a 1-0 victory in double overtime, thanks in part to Panas’ two saves in 105 minutes of play.
Dowell was named Freshman of the Week for contributing to all three goals in the Cowgirls’ 3-0 win over Lamar. The freshman netted her first-career goal and notched two assists in her first collegiate appearance.
This is McClure’s fifth-career Big 12 weekly honor, and the first for Panas and Dowell.
