ORLANDO — Coming to you from Camping World Stadium for tonight’s Florida vs. Miami college football game.
First quarter
Miami goes for a 36-yard field goal by Bubba Baxa with 9:38 left in the quarter to cap a nine-play, 56-yard drive. UM redshirt freshman quarterback Jarren Williams, making his first start, was 5-for-5 for 61 yards on drive.
Kadarius Toney takes a short pass from Feleipe Franks for a 66-yard touchdown following a fake punt for a first down by Tommy Townsend. With Evan McPherson’s kick, UF takes its first lead at 7-3 at 7:37.
What went right: After falling behind 3-0 early, the Gators clearly had no momentum and it appeared they would have a quick three-and-out on offense. But Dan Mullen made a gutsy call — a fake punt by punter Tommy Townsend where he gained just enough yardage to convert the first down. On the very next play, Feleipe Franks completed a wide receiver screen to Kadarius Toney, who quickly turned it into a 66-yard touchdown play to put the Gators on top 7-3. Another positive is the way the Florida defense adjusted to UM’s own screen game and shut down the ‘Canes the rest of the quarter.
What went wrong: UM offensive coordinator Dan Enos did a nice job making his redshirt freshman quarterback, Jarren Williams, feel comfortable on the game’s opening possession, calling four simple screen passes — and they all worked against a Florida defense that almost looked outmanned on the edge.
Play of the quarter: The Franks-to-Toney screen pass that went 66 yards for a touchdown. Toney broke at least four tackles en route to the end zone.
Trending: The Florida defense, which finished the quarter strong.

Second quarter
Miami defensive lineman Scott Patchan recovers a fumble on a botched Franks-Lamical Perine exchange inside the Hurricanes’ 10-yard line.
After Hurricanes go nowhere, they get another turnover on the Gators’ ensuing possession.
A pitch from Franks to Malik Davis results in a turnover. Baxa makes UF pay for the second fumble with a 42-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 7-6 with 8:26 left in half.
UM takes the lead on Williams’ 25-yard TD pass to Brevin Jordan with 45 seconds left to cap a 90-yard drive on 12 plays.
What went right: Nothing.
What went wrong: Pretty much everything. When it looked like the Gators might take command early in the quarter, Franks lost a fumble on a first-and-goal from the seven. Later in the quarter, running back Malik Davis lost a fumble that the Hurricanes turned into a 42-yard field goal to make it a 7-6 game. From that point on, the Hurricanes dominated on both sides of the ball. The young UF offensive line was overwhelmed and the offense went nowhere. At the same time, the Hurricanes started to roll on that side of the ball. At the end of the half, the UF defense surrendered a 12-play, 90-yard touchdown drive that gave UM a 13-7 halftime lead. The big play, of course, came on a screen pass that went for 40 yards. Williams closed out the drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Brevin Jordan with 45 seconds left to play.

Third quarter
McPherson hits a 27-yard field goal to cut the UM lead to 13-10 with 6:30 left in the quarter.
Franks hit Perine with an 8-yard TD pass to put UF up 17-13 with 30 seconds left. The scored followed a muffed play on an attempt punt catch. Van Jefferson recovered on the 11-yard line.
What went right: The Gators rebounded from the poor second quarter by pretty much dominating the third and taking the lead, 17-13, on a 27-yard field goal by Evan McPherson and a clutch 8-yard TD pass from Franks to Lamical Perine on a third-and-seven play. The biggest play, the one that led to the TD, came when UM wide receiver Jeff Thomas muffed Townsend’s punt and Van Jefferson recovered it on the UM 11. The Florida defense, which looked so shaky at the end of the first half, rebounded nicely. Two of Miami’s three first downs came as a result of UF penalties — a late hit by star Trey Dean and a pass interference call by CJ Henderson.
What went wrong: The offense struggled early, then had to settle for McPherson’s field goal after having a first down on the UM nine. The late hit by Dean was not smart.
Play of the quarter: Jefferson recovering the muffed punt that led to the TD.

Fourth quarter
Miami running back Deejay Dallas breaks a 50-yard touchdown run, as the Hurricanes regain the lead at 20-17 early in the quarter.
The Gators dodge a bullet. Get a stop after the James Houston personal foul penalty and Baxa misses a 27-yard field goal, so it stays at 20-17 UM with 9:48 remaining.
Franks hits Hammond for a 65-yard pass play and later scores on a three-yard run to cap a quick four-play, 80-yard drive with 8:18 remaining that gives the Gators a 24-20 lead.
What went right: The Gators somehow found a way to hang on for the victory despite a huge interception by Franks and a series of dumb penalties by the defense. Early in the quarter following Franks’ first interception of the game, the Gators got a stop and UM missed a chip-shot field goal. Midway through the quarter, just when it looked like the UF offense had possibly stalled for good, Franks launched a 65-yard strike to Josh Hammond that set up a 3-yard TD run by Franks to put the Gators up 24-20. When the defense wasn’t making dumb penalties to keep the UM offense on the go, the Gators were dominating with their pass rush, which ultimately saved the game.
What went wrong: There are two plays that really stand out: an interception by Franks that gave UM the ball on the UF 40 after the defense had held the ’Canes on a fourth-and-nine from the UF 30; and Marco Wilson allowing UM to convert a fourth-and-34 with a pass interference call that occurred well short of the line to get for the first down.
Play of the quarter: Jeremiah Moon coming up with the big-time pressure on a fourth-and-12 from the UF 26 with just seconds to play to seal the win.
