Four Big 12 volleyball programs were named to the 2019 AVCA Preseason Poll, as Texas and Baylor earned a ranking in the Top-25, while TCU and Kansas received votes.
The Longhorns were tabbed the No. 4 team in the nation, anchored by a 23-5 overall record last year. In the 2018 season, UT advanced to the NCAA Regional final with the help of 2019 Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year, Micaya White. Along with White, the Longhorns bring back 2018 Big 12 Freshman of the Year Logan Eggleston, while also introducing the 2019 Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year Skylar Fields.
BU garnered the No. 20 ranking in the preseason poll, four spots higher than its final AVCA ranking last season. Baylor capped off its 2018 year as the regular-season Big 12 runner-up, with an NCAA Championship second round appearance. Members of last season’s All-Big 12 First Team in Shelly Fanning (Stafford) and Yossiana Pressley look to return for their redshirt senior and junior years, respectively.
The 2019 season will open up on Friday, August 30, while Wednesday, September 25 marks the first day of Big 12 competition.
