WHAT’S ON THIS WEEKEND?
EXP Invitational Apex Legends at X Games (3:30 p.m. ET, Friday and Saturday, ESPN App/Twitter/YouTube/Twitch): Get ready to drop on King’s Canyon as some of the best Apex Legends players in the world do battle at the X Games. Twenty teams will be competing for a share of the $150,000 prize pool.
Houston Dash vs. Seattle Reign FC (7 p.m. ET, ESPNEWS): Megan Rapinoe’s Reign FC takes on the Dash in this NWSL matchup. Reign have lost two in a row, but the Dash are riding a three-match winning streak.
The Basketball Tournament dunk contest (9 p.m. ET, ESPN2): This is a bit of a twist on the traditional dunk contest, as players will attempt to throw down a big slam over an opponent, who has to stand in a restricted area and jump only vertically. This cuts down on some of the crazier slams, but isn’t it always more exciting to see someone put on a poster?
UFC Fight Night presented by Modelo: Covington vs. Lawler (3 p.m. ET Saturday, ESPN): Colby Covington takes on Robbie Lawler in a welterweight matchup in Newark, with a title shot on the line for Covington if he wins. You can catch the preliminaries at noon ET on ESPN.
Red Sox at Yankees (7 p.m. ET Sunday, ESPN): Baseball’s most storied rivalry continues Sunday as the Red Sox visit New York to take on the Yankees. Boston is looking to gain some ground in this series — not against the Yankees, who lead the AL East by quite a bit, but in the wild-card race.
