Kentucky junior wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. is representing the Wildcats at the 2019 iteration of SEC Media Days. The dynamic returner and receiver dished on honoring Jared Lorenzen, beating Florida in 2018 and more.

Growing up was there a player you modeled your game after?

“De’Anthony Thomas. When he was in college at Oregon, he was a running back, receiver, return man. Similar to me. I really wanted to be like him.”

You had your first career receiving touchdown in the win at Florida last season, what did that mean for you?

“Going into the game, they told us about the streak, you know, so I like to see myself as a winner. We lost to them my freshman year, a missed field goal, we should have beat them. No excuses, we lost. Then we go there to their home, and there’s no better feeling than to beat them right there in The Swamp. Being that I had my first touchdown in that game, I just felt blessed to be a part of everything that happened.”

What did you hear from the Kentucky community after that win at Florida?

“I really thought from that point forward they knew we were for real last year. They bought into the program, just like the players did.”

What did former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen mean to you and the program?

“He was a big part of Kentucky’s culture. Some of us, we went up there to the funeral. Terry (Wilson) is going to come out in the opener wearing No. 22. It was a big loss to our family, it hurt everyone in our community and around the program. I used to see him around all the time.”

With Benny Snell now with the Steelers, will the team be more or less reliant on the running game or will it still be a run-heavy offense?

“I don’t really know how to answer that question without giving away all our secrets. I mean, I think we’ll be fine. We’ve got a great set of running backs coming up right now. Our quarterback is developing. Our receivers, we’re doing big things this offseason. Our offensive line, becoming a great offensive line. For us, losing Benny, he’s a great player, my brother, he calls me to this day and I’ll always be there for him, but I think we’re going to be good.”
