Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy ultimately signed with the Crimson Tide despite UF’s best efforts, and the dynamic pass-catcher represented the reigning SEC Champions at SEC Media Days 2019.
Coach Nick Saban said quarterback Tua Tagovailoa can improve on his 2018 campaign, what have you seen from him and what’s it like having him as your QB?
“It’s great having Tua as my quarterback. I met him at The Opening and ever since then, I knew he had something special. Him coming with me to Alabama was a great feeling, knowing he’s a great quarterback, great leader and a great competitor. Only difference I’ve seen is he’s just got a little bit skinnier, in my opinion. But other than that, he’s just improving his game, working on his fundamentals and bettering himself for this year.”
What does new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian bring to the team?
“He brings his little tics-and-tacs [sic] to the offense. He hasn’t changed nothing, really, everything’s the same, he’s just adding his own 1-2 step into it.”
What does fellow receiver Henry Ruggs III bring to the receiving corps?
“He brings speed, explosiveness, leadership. He’s just a great competitor. He motivates me to become a better player and I motivate him to become a better player, so, yeah having a teammate like that who motivates you to be the best you can be, it’s wonderful.”
How long does it take you personally to get over a loss?
“It hurt me for awhile, just seeing the (Clemson game) back on TV, just recreating that feeling. It hurts, but it’s a new season so I’m focused on this season and improving my game and helping my team get back to the national championship.”
You’re being discussed as one of the best wide receivers in college football, do you pay attention to those rankings?
“A lot of people say that, but as soon as I have a bad game, they’re going to say I’m the worst receiver in college football, so I don’t really focus too much on what the outsiders think. Yeah, I think I’m the best receiver in the nation, but that’s how everybody is supposed to feel. Every receiver should feel like they’re the best receiver in the nation.”
