Texas Tech Athlete of the Year Nominees

2018-19 Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each weekday through July 10.

Fans will be able to vote for their male and female choices beginning on July 5 and concluding on July 10 on Big12Sports.com.

Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award. Today’s featured candidates are Texas Tech’s Karli Hamilton and Divine Oduduru.

TTU Female Athlete of the Year Candidate
Karli Hamilton; Softball

Accomplishments
^ NFCA Third Team All-America
^ Unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection
^ Broke the school career and single-season triples record
^ Became the first Big 12 player to record eight triples in a season since 2010 and tied for third in Conference single-season history
^ Led the Big 12 Conference with 73 hits and seven triples during the regular season

TTU Male Athlete of the Year Candidate
Divine Oduduru; Men’s Track & Field
Jr.; Ughelli, Delta State, Nigeria

Accomplishments
^ Won three individual national titles (Indoor: 200m; Outdoor: 100m & 200m)
^ His 21.5 points at the NCAA Outdoor Championship led Texas Tech to its first-ever National Championship
^ Named USTFCCCA Co-Men’s National Athlete of the Year
^ Selected as the Big 12 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year
^ Won four Big 12 titles (Indoor: 60m & 200m; Outdoor: 100m and 4×1 relay)
