Baylor infielder Nick Loftin and Oklahoma right-handed pitcher Cade Cavalli were named to the USA Baseball 2019 Collegiate National Team 26-man roster, as announced Monday.
Loftin, a rising junior, batted .331 with six home runs and 43 RBIs in 53 games during his sophomore campaign at Baylor. He ranked sixth in the conference with 78 hits, 20 doubles and three triples, while placing third in the league with 59 runs scored.
Cavalli, also a rising junior, was 5-3 on the mound in 2019 with a 3.28 ERA, good for sixth-best in the Big 12. He tallied 59 strikeouts in 60.1 innings of work for the Sooners, while also hitting .319 with four home runs and 17 RBIs in just 72 at-bats.
Both Loftin and Cavalli were named to the All-Big 12 First Team in 2019 and will be making their first appearances with the national team.
Team USA will host a five-game international friendship series against Cuba from July 2-6 with games being played at four different stadiums across North Carolina. Then, the Collegiate National Team will travel to Taiwan for the 19th USA vs Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series from July 9-12 before cutting its roster to 24 players and heading to Japan for the 43rd USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series taking place from July 16-21.
