Texas Tech’s Divine Oduduru was named one of three finalists for The Bowerman Award after capturing three individual national titles during the 2019 indoor and outdoor seasons.
Oduduru is the ninth Big 12 track & field student-athlete to be named a finalist, the second amongst all Big 12 men and the first in Red Raider history.
The junior recorded first place finishes at the indoor (60m, 200m) and outdoor (100m, 200m) Conference championships, while also winning gold medals at the NCAA indoor (200m) and outdoor (100m, 200m) championships.
At the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Oduduru went 9.86 in the 100-meter and 19.76 in the 200-meter for times that both fall second in collegiate history on his way to a pair of gold medals.
During the indoor season, the Nigerian native won a national title in the 200-meter and clocked the second-fastest time in collegiate history (20.08) at the Big 12 Championship.
The Bowerman is awarded each year to the top male collegiate athlete and to the top female collegiate athlete in the sport of NCAA track and field.
The finalist with the highest point total after the tabulation of ballots, fan voting, and USTFCCCA member voting is declared the winner of The Bowerman.
Fan voting is set to open Thursday, June 20, at 3 p.m. CT at thebowerman.org/vote, while the award will be presented Thursday, December 19, at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida.
