NCAA Outdoor T&F Championship to Begin Wednesday

The 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for June 5-8 at Mike A. Myers Stadium, hosted by the University of Texas in Austin.

All 19 Big 12 track programs will send competitors to the national event, while two individuals get set to defend their individual titles.

Texas Tech’s Divine Odururu will look to defend his 200-meter dash title, while also compete for a chance at his first 100-meter dash national title. Tejaswin Shankar of K-State won the outdoor high jump individual championship last season and heads into this week’s competition with a tie for the second-highest clearance in the prelim qualifiers (2.16m).

Three-time Big 12 outdoor hammer throw champion, Gleb Dudarev of Kansas, will look to win his first national title after throwing for 74.20-meters in prelim action, more than two meters further than the field.

For the women, Oklahoma State’s Sinclaire Johnson and K-State’s Ranae McKenzie recorded the fastest times in the 1500-meter race (4:09.50) and the 400-meter hurdles (56.24), respectively, during prelim qualifiers, placing them in prime position for individual glory.

The 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field high jump champion, Texas Tech’s Zarriea Willis, will look to be the first high jumper since 2014 to win both the indoor and outdoor individual titles in the same year.
