Ten Earn USTFCCCA Yearly Regional Honors

Bryce Hoppel of Kansas and West Virginia’s Madelin Gardner among 10 Big 12 Track & Field student-athletes and coaches honored by the US Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). 

Of the 10 honored, five student-athletes and coaches from both the men’s and women’s programs, each, represented the Conference. 

Each of the nine regions – Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Mountain, Northeast, South, South Central, Southeast and West – honored both gender’s top track athletes and field athletes as well as the top men’s and women’s head coaches and assistant coaches.

National competition at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships is set to begin on Wednesday, June 5, and run through Saturday, June 8. NCAA action will take place at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.

Men’s

Track Athletes of the Year

Midwest Region – Bryce Hoppel, Kansas

Mountain Region – Divine Oduduru, Texas Tech 

Field Athlete of the Year

Mountain Region – Odaine Lewis, Texas Tech 

Coach of the Year

Mountain Region – Wes Kittley, Texas Tech 

Assistant Coach of the Year

Mountain Region – Calvin Robinson, Texas Tech

Women’s

Track Athlete of the Year

Midwest Region – Sinclaire Johnson, Oklahoma State

Field Athletes of the Year

Mid-Atlantic Region – Madelin Gardner, West Virginia

South Central Region – Ashtin Zamzow, Texas 

Coach of the Year

Midwest Region – Cliff Rovelto, Kansas State
 

Assistant Coach of the Year

Midwest Region – Nathan Ott, Kansas State
