FOUR BOUNCES

Kawhi Leonard’s shot heard round the world … One, two, three, four, the Raptors sent the 76ers out the door. Kawhi Leonard’s game-winning, buzzer-beating shot over Joel Embiid sent NBA Twitter (and thousands of Raptors fans) into hysterics, as it bounced on the rim four times before falling through the net in a final scene that even movie producers might deem unrealistic. Not bad for the first Game 7 buzzer-beater in NBA history. Read More

THINGS TO CARE ABOUT

The kid who loved Mike Trout … Gavin Edelson knows Mike Trout in the way that only a 7-year-old superfan can; ask him anything about his hero and he’ll have an immediate answer. Gavin went viral when Trout brought him on the field last summer while dressed in one of his “Troutfits,” but the connection between the player and his No. 1 fan goes much deeper than that. ‘We’re taking all the Browns stuff down’ … The only problem with being drafted by an NFL team is that it usually isn’t the team your family has loved for years. Rookie Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Justin Layne used to have his house decorated in a Cleveland Browns theme — but all that changed after his dad got through redecorating. Read More

What it’s like to take on Zion … Zion Williamson embodies the phrase “man among boys,” but nowhere was that more apparent than in middle school and high school, when he’d match up against kids a fraction of his size. The Undefeated caught up with some of his former opponents who squared off against the future star and somehow lived to tell about it. Read More

OVERHEARD

“All them techs, the refs are going to do what they’re going to do. Anytime I played, anytime you played, the refs are part of the game. So what? Just go out there and play the game. Shut up.”

REMEMBER WHEN?

On this date in 1997, Michael Jordan a) dunked on Dikembe Mutombo and b) did Mutombo’s finger wag in his face, which is the last thing you want to have happen to you if you’re famous for blocking shots and then wagging your finger in the face of the guy you blocked. Watch

WHAT’S ON TONIGHT?

Orioles at Yankees (6:35 p.m. ET, ESPN+): The Yankees remain in contention in the AL East despite an injury report longer than an Aaron Judge home run — or it would be if Judge wasn’t on said injured list. The Orioles haven’t been quite as ravaged by injuries, but that hasn’t mattered much. Getting out of the AL East basement seems like a long-term project at this point.

Brewers at Phillies (7 p.m. ET, ESPN): Bryce Harper got the big bucks in the offseason, but right now it’s reigning MVP Christian Yelich who looks as if he’s earning his keep. We’re just over a month into the season, and Yelich has set himself up for a legitimate run at the NL Triple Crown, while Harper’s power and patience are being offset by his low batting average and questionable defense.

Blues at Sharks (9 p.m. ET, NBCSN): Game 1 was a fun one for San Jose, which scored six goals to take a 1-0 series lead on the Blues. But the Sharks are 0-for-2 in Game 2s in this year’s playoffs, making this a perfect time for St. Louis to get level in the Western Conference finals.
