Both the TCU and Texas men’s tennis programs garnered victories in the 2019 NCAA Championship Super Regional Round, earning a trip to Orlando, Florida. The quarterfinals, along with the semifinals and the championship match, will be played at the USTA National Campus in the Sunshine State, May 16-19.
The Horned Frogs and Longhorns will join No. 6 Baylor in Orlando – which ties the ACC with three men’s representatives in the final eight of the field and guaranteeing a team in the National Semifinal.
For the women, No. 15 Oklahoma State dropped its match to host-school and No. 2-seeded North Carolina by a final score of 2-4.
The No. 2-seeded Longhorn men swept visiting California, 4-0, while No. 10 TCU upset No. 7-seeded Mississippi State on the road, 4-2.
With their respective wins, both Big 12 programs will battle each other in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 NCAA Tennis Championship on Thursday, May 16 at a time that has yet to be announced. During the regular-season, Texas took down TCU midway through league play, 6-1.
No. 6 Baylor’s opponent for the quarterfinal round of the national championship has been decided as the Bears get set to face No. 3-seeded Florida on May 16 as well.
With berths to the quarterfinal round of the tennis championship, BU has earned its 13th trip to the quarters, while TCU its 10th and Texas its 16th.
