Sooners Set to Host Outdoor Championship

May 09, 2019

Norman, Okla. – The 2019 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championship will begin on Friday, May 10, and run through Sunday, May 12, in Norman, Oklahoma, at John Jacobs Track & Field Complex.

Both the men’s and women’s programs of Texas lead the way with the most team championships in Big 12 history with eight and 10 titles, respectively.

The reigning outdoor champions for the men (Texas Tech) and the women (Kansas State) will look to make their marks at the conference championship. The Red Raiders are in search of title No. 4, while the Wildcats will look for No. 5.

Texas Tech is led by Divine Oduduru, who gets set to defend his 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash crowns, while the 2018 Outdoor Track & Field Long Jump Champion, Odaine Lewis, will battle a field of some of the top student-athletes in the country to retain his medal.

With wins in the previous three years in the 400-meter dash, a fourth for Baylor’s Wil London would solidify him as the second Big 12 student-athlete to achieve that feat in this event and the fourth amongst all individual events.

For the K-State women’s program, a three-peat is in sight. The defending Big 12 champions are led in the 400-meter hurdles by Ranae McKenzie, who will look to push the Wildcats past the finish line for a second straight year. McKenzie won the 400-meter hurdles at the 2018 outdoor championship.

A full schedule of competition can be found on the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championship page at Big12Sports.com, while heat sheets are set to be released following the coaches pre-championship meeting Thursday evening.

DeltaTiming will produce live stats, while live video will be broadcast by FloTrack. Follow Big 12 social media accounts for updates throughout the Championship.
